The Emperor's New Clothes

Part 2

Let us review what we have so far:

  • When a person dies, they are destined for one of two places where they will spend eternity. They will either serve the devil in hell, or they will spend forever flying amongst the clouds while playing upon a harp.
  • We will live in a mansion that Jesus is building for us.
  • This grand mansion, it appears, is a huge building half the length of the United States square, and just as high, which is going to sit on a mountain the size of a medium size city.
  • Those who are saved will no longer be floating on a cloud, but will be floating around this city ruling and reigning (over whom?).
  • Those not saved will forever be in a pit of fire burning and serving the devil.


Have I got the picture about right?

As I see it then, God has gone to all this trouble for no other reason than to give us "worthy" souls one of two options. We can either indulge ourselves doing nothing for eternity; or we can suffer in hell for eternity. And what makes the difference is a bath and saying a few words. [Or, according to just about every church, not having ever heard of Jesus but doing good things (but "works" don't count), or dying before the age of 12.]


If the above is your view, I would like to ask you a few questions:

Does any of the above make any sense to you?

What did Jesus mean when He said: "The Kingdom of God is within you."?

What did Jesus mean when He told Nicodemus:

5 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John 3:)

Or when Jesus said:

23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:)


In various articles and studies I have given pieces of what Heaven is as I read in the Bible. Trying to undo two millennia of fantasy in a short study such as this is impossible. However, I hope I have given you some food for thought that will cause you to hunger for the Truth rather than be satisfied with the junk food the churches have been dishing out in the past.

To learn more about the Kingdom of Heaven, research the words for yourself in a concordance. I think you will be amazed at what you find. There are other helpful tools as well that greatly expedite study of the Word. I use two such tools: Quick Verse and eSword. eSword is free off the net and has many valuable elements.


The Kingdom of Heaven has been relegated by the churches to a position of curiosity or of something to be learned of later when we have our perfected body. It is seen as a "Pie in the Sky" experience that has little to do with us in the here and now.

This is far from true.

Consider these verses of Scripture:


1In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Mat 3:; Mark 1:15)


17From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Mat 4:)


[These were Jesus' first words after being baptized, and tempted by Satan. In other words, here Jesus is proclaiming His mission.)


5These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Mat 10:)

[The churches like to say that the Gospel is being preached throughout the world. In fact, everything but the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven is being preached.]


42And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. 43And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. (Luke 4:)


60Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. (Luke 9:)


9And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. (Luke 10:)

(Note how the same word "Mansions" here was translated "Abode" in John 14:23. Do you still picture a castle in the sky or a monster building tottering on Mount Sion?)

1When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples. 2And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples. (John 18:)


25And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not. 26One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? (John 18:)


40Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. 41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. (John 19:)


18Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? 19It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it. (Luke 13:)


Note: Almost all the parables that Jesus told were about the Kingdom of Heaven. And those that were not directly about the Kingdom, such as the beatitudes, were explaining what it takes to make it to the Kingdom. And the book of Revelation, in one form or another, is about the Kingdom of Heaven.

A further note regarding the legend of Lucifer. Read Ezekiel chapter 31 and then tell me why the theologians have not proclaimed this to be referring to Satan as well.


In both the Temple and the Tabernacle there were three parts, or "rooms." The outer room was actually no room at all but rather outside the Tabernacle. Here is where sacrifices were made and where priests washed their hands and their feet before entering the second chamber of the Tabernacle: the Holy Place, to perform their daily duties. Without washing and sacrifice the priests could not enter into the Holy Place to serve.

Those priests serving in the second chamber were in the Temple, but they were not in the presence of God, who appeared to the High Priest , and then only once per year. This is also where God met with Moses to speak with him face-to-face.

Interestingly enough the outer chamber where service to God (and man) was accomplished measured 10 cubits high, 10 cubits wide, and 20 cubits long (Ex 36:). [The measurement of the Tabernacle is smaller than that of the Temple (2Chr3:).] Add these measurements and we have 2,000 cubic cubits. Interesting, wouldn't you say? The fact that the measured partial realm of service to our Lord in the wilderness should correlate exactly with the number of years since the birth of Jesus to this date? Surely it is mere coincidence.


The Holy of Holies, where the Arc of the Covenant and the Mercy seat were lodged (abode), where God appeared to man in the form of the Holy Spirit (the Shekinah Glory cloud) measured 10 cubits by 10 cubits by 10 cubits. This adds up to 1,000 cubic cubits total. This figure just happens to be the same as the number of years in a Millennium.

Surely another coincidence.


The outer curtain that enclosed the structure, the entire workings of the priesthood, that concealed them from the eyes of strangers and those not of the priesthood: measured 100 cubits by 50 cubits. This number corresponds to the number of years from Abraham's call to the end of the Millennium (5,000 square cubits = years). The number 5 is considered the number of Grace (1Sam 17:40), 50 is the number of Jubilee when everything returns back to what it was in the beginning, to its original owner (Lev chap 25&27; Acts chap 2; Lev chap 23:(16) all). A hundred is a complete number. Jesus used this number (a "hundredfold") to express the most a person would be expected to produce (Mat 13:8; 19:29).


Of course this is all coincidence. But if there should be any correlation between the measurements of the Temple, and the number of years Jesus has been with us, then it might behoove us to consider what this has to tell us, don't you think?

And, if there is any validity to such a "coincidence," then the translators of the new translations of the Bible, having changed the numbers from cubits to feet have actually robbed the numbers of their meaning, don't you think?

God wrote to us in such a way that only He can interpret the meaning of the Book. When man tries to explain what God intended, he fails miserably. One wrong interpretation is like a puff of wind to an arrow, it knocks it off course. And instead of correcting the mistaken interpretation, which can only be accomplished by the Holy Spirit, man finds ways and means from whatever source he can to support his faulted discoveries. Once off course, the distance between Truth and error only becomes greater. In the end, instead of merely having a slight deviation from Truth, we have a fantasy that has no connection with Truth whatsoever.

Man having itching ears enjoys a good fantasy. Man loves to be deceived. Israel continually falling into the worst of false religion is evidence of this. And so is the direction the world is taking today, the churches included, evidence of man's failure to listen to and to believe God.


My original intent for this study was to counter the claims and the interpretations that the churches have laid and established. My thinking was that in order to neatly wind a tangled rope we must first untangle that rope. But when the rope is too worn, tangled and knotted it is sometimes best to discard the old rope and begin with a new.

Jesus put it this way:


16No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. (Mat 9:)


I find that this rope is too tangled, with too many strands tied to other tangled ropes, for me to handle in this short study. I can only hope that something I have presented here will help someone look in a new direction than the one the many churches have been pointing. It just might make the difference in a person's finding the light, or remaining in the darkness of tradition.

What I have presented here barely scratches the surface of that which is needed to understand God's true purposes and what He has told us. But the Word has become so corrupted with man's interpretation that I can not see how it can be straightened out by one writer.

To further understand Heaven one must also clarify the doctrines of the Bride of Christ; Man's importance to God; how God views man; the so-called rapture; the role of the devil; Jesus and His divinity; the person and purpose of the Holy Spirit; the role of works and the law; Overcomer; the immortal soul; the New Jerusalem; and a myriad of other distorted interpretations.

Where to begin?

In this case I have begun with a small jab at unraveling the fantasy of Heaven as an introductory example of the exegesis (interpretation) process. Several times I surrendered this task as impossible during this writing. And I suppose it is impossible - for me. I "decided" to allow the Word to speak for itself rather than try and explain it. I believe it has proven itself the right thing to do. I hope you do as well.


15Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, . . . .. 18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

You have undoubtedly noticed that there are a lot of rabbit trails to follow in the above Scripture references. As difficult as these trains of thought are to follow, just that much more so were they to lay out.

I suggest you give the references several readings, following and researching each topic in their turn.


Another thing you may have noticed is the contradictory and confusing aspects of some of the trails and associations. Where it appears a conclusive result is about to be found, something comes along and knocks that conclusion off kilter.

When this occurs, you need to know that it is not necessarily because you missed something that such has happened, but that such is the way God has written His Book. I wish I could provide the answer to these confusing questions, but there are those issues which the Lord has not seen fit to reveal to me at this time. Hopefully in the future.

It appears there is always a mystery to be solved.
