NO EXCUSE

if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged

"Before I pass judgement, is there anything the accused would like to say in his own behalf?"

"Yes, your Honor, there is. I would like to say that I regret all the crimes I've committed, the laws I've broken, and to ask forgiveness from all I've hurt during my life. I would like to say that I repent of my wicked ways and that I will never do any of it again. But, your Honor. I have said all this before, and each time I backslid and did what I least wanted to do. I wish it were otherwise, and that I had a nature other than what I have. I wish I could once and for all be a sinless person. But, your Honor, I can't say any of these things with due honesty. All I can say is that I have no excuse."

"That, son, is the only excuse I will accept. Case dismissed."

31For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. (1Cor 11:)

19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. 20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, (Rom 1:)

3Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. (Luke 17:)

8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1John 1:)
