...MAKING A FLUTE BAG

Making a flute bag requires sewing, either by hand or machine. If by hand, be prepared with lots of bandages at the ready to cover those punctured fingers.

Although I've made several bags I have only this one to show you since the rest of them look just like this one, which is also my favorite. I was lucky to find a blanket with a nice design (which I'm unable to locate any more, or any other that I like).

Keep in mind that a bag like this, as with any other such project, is sewn inside-out, the sewn edges are inside rather than outside. Then for a finished job, the selvedges, the part that frays, are tucked in and sewn in. Someone with skill in this area can show you what I'm talking about. And if you're real nice to that person, you might be able to convince her (I assume here) to make the bag(s) for you.

I lined these bags with sateen, a cheap imitation of satin, which gives the bag a nice, finished appearance. Most bags sold are just a simple sack with something at the top to close the bag with. A quick perusal of the web will tell you more about this project than I could possibly accomplish here.

.    As winter approaches I intend to make more bags. If I come up with something worth showing I'll add them to this page.
