Busybody Reports

Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

"Hi-de-ho everybody. This is Michael Jay Busybody on the streets of Anytown, USA looking for someone of interest I might interview. Ah, here's a likely candidate. I see this middle-aged woman searching the sidewalk diligently for something. Let's see what she has to say shall we? Good morning Ma'am, I was wondering if you might spare a moment of your time to be interviewed before my radio listening audience. I see...."

"Me? You want to interview me, Ima Nobody? You mean I'm going to be a radio star? Oh how thrilling! Won't my family be proud. Well, first I was born in Schenectady at a very young age. Then I moved to Buffalo Chip Saratoga at the age of...."

"That's very interesting..., Ms, Nobody did you say is your name Ma'am?"

"That's right, Mrs Ima Simpleton Nobody. If you're not interested in my life story young man, then just what is it you want from me?"

"Well, to be frank Mrs Nobody, I noticed you were searching diligently for something on the sidewalk. I wondered if perhaps you were looking for spare change or something you might have lost. Have I read your actions correctly by any chance?"

"Oh my no Mr Frank. I was checking the ground and the hallway into my apartment so's to make sure there's nothing in the way that might cause a hazard or a place of stumbling for my moving men. One little pebble when you're carrying something important and heavy can have disastrous effects. You know what I mean don't you Mr Frank?"

"I suspect I do understand Mrs Nobody, however my name isn't Frank, it's Michael, Michael J Busybody, your man on the streets."

"You're name isn't Frank? You shouldn't go around telling people your name is Frank if it ain't. That's not too polite like."

"I'll try to be careful of that in the future, and thank you for your advise Mrs Nobody. You say your removing obstacles from the path of those who will be bringing something important? If I may be so bold as to ask, what is it the movers are bringing, and why be so concerned with something as small as that slip of paper you hold in your hand? Surely something so minor can do no harm."

"Au contraire Mr Busybody. My men are carrying a very heavy and expensive piano into my upstairs apartment. This insignificant piece of paper you refer to might have entangled one of the men's shoe and caused him to misstep or to waver just enough to falter, then down goes my valuable piano. Do you understand now Mr Busybody?"

"I understand to a degree Mrs Nobody, but if I may say so I think you're going just a little overboard with your preparation. I'm sure those tiny things you hold in your hand wouldn't do your movers any harm. For instance that penny, what harm could it do?"

"Mr Busybody, this here penny could just as easily be a diamond or a very rare coin, it still wouldn't matter. Whatever is in the path of what's most important to us has to be cleared from the way or it'll likely cause a lot of trouble. I'd rather have big things in the way that make a person come to a complete stop then to have something small that might could cause a stumble. Have I got it through your noggin now Mr Busybody?"

"I believe you have Mrs Nobody, but I still think you're overestimating the importance of small things."

"That, Mr Busybody, is because they're not your valuable things that's being brought home."

12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. (Rom 14:)

6Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, (1Cor 5:)
