Penelope Potter Ss.T

Judge not that ye be not judged..

"Good morning children."

"Is everyone ready to begin their Sunday School lesson for today?"

"Very good. Then we will begin. Today's lesson is about.... Yes Danny? Do you have to go to the bathroom again?"

"No Miss Potter, not this time. I just wanted to ask you a question."

"And what is your question Danny?"

"Last week you told us about Sampson, how strong he is and everything. Is he as strong as Superman?"

"Naw, Nobody's strong as Superman. 'xcept maybe Spiderman. He's my favorite superhero."

"No sir Bobby. Spiderman can't make bullets bounce off his chest. 'Sides, he can't fly."

"Can too Danny. It's Spiderman! Spiderman! Hoot! Hoot!"

"Nuh hunh you guys. Barbie is the best 'cause she's smart and pretty and she's got a pony."

"No! It's Superman or nobody! I don't care what you say!"

"Children! Please! Let's stop this nonsense. Can't you see you're getting no where with your arguing? Now, so we can return to our lesson, let's see if we can't learn to get along together."

"We're getting along Miss Potter. We're just playing like we always do. We're not really mad or anything."

"I know it's just a game for you Bobby, but it's just this kind of game that keeps people from working together and accepting one another. I'll show you how. Bobby, you like Spiderman, is that right?"

"Yes Miss Potter. He's the best. Hoot! Hoot!"

"And Danny, you like Superman. What do you think of Bobby because he likes Spiderman the best?"

"I think he's stupid is what I think. Superman's the best or nothing."

"And Linda, you like Barbie. I know you don't care for the boy's superheros, but what do you think of the boys themselves because of their liking their superheros?"

"I think they're icky and dumb Miss Potter. Barbie's nice. She doesn't go around showing off like those guys do. That's what I think Miss Potter. They're icky."

"Now, let's see if we can learn to be more accepting of one another even though we all have differences of opinion. Linda, think now, is there anything you can say about Spiderman and Superman that's good?"

"Well Miss Potter, I guess I could say they help people when they fall off big buildings and things like that. That's a good thing. I'd like to have them around if I ever get on top of a big building. That's something good I guess. But Barbie's still my favorite, even if she can't fly or anything."

"Very Good Linda. Now Bobby, can you say anything good about Superman?"

"I don't think so Miss Potter. I like Spiderman. Hoot! But I guess Superman is nice an' like that. Yeah. He's nice. That's something good. But Spiderman is nicer."

"Now, Danny, what can you say about Barbie that's good?"

"Barbie? Do I have to say something good about Bar bie? Why can't I say something good about Spiderman instead of a silly ol' girl?"

"Because you think of Barbie as a silly ol' girl Danny. Please, think of something good about Barbie."

"Ok, I guess. If I have to. I guess she dresses nice an' things like that. And I guess she has a nice horsel. Yeah, I like her horse. Is that saying something good Miss Potter?"

"I think so Danny. Now, tell me Danny, how do you feel about Linda? Do you like her any better now that you're not judging her by the things she likes?"

"I don't like Linda Miss Potter. I don't like any girls. They gots cooties."

"I don't mean like in that way Danny. I mean, do you still judge her or Bobbie like you did before now that you've looked past their beliefs or their interests?"

"I don't know what you mean Miss Potter. I don't look past nothing?"

"Um, yes. This is hard to explain to you children. Linda, now that you can see something good about Superman, do you feel any better about Danny, even though he likes Superman more than Barbie?"

"No way Miss Potter. He said I have cooties. I don't like boys. They're mean."

"Ok, let me try again. Bobbie, you've said something good about Superman now. Do you feel any different toward Danny now that you're not critical of his interests?"

"I don't know Miss Potter. What does feel mean? Like with my fingers and toes? I don't feel anything. Honest. Should I?"

"Oh well, you can't win them all I guess. Class dismissed."

10But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. 14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. 20For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. 21It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. 22Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. 23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. (Rom 14:)
